Privacy Policy

Complete Journal (“Complete Journal,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a personal journaling app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Complete Journal to help you keep your memories — not to profit from your data. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Information you provide

• Account information: your name and email address, used to create and secure your account.
• Profile details: your date of birth and your city/state, which you enter so the app can show you the same calendar day across the years you’ve lived. (We do not collect precise GPS location.)
• Your content: the journal entries, photos, notes, goals, bucket-list items, milestones, important people, places, and hashtags you choose to add.

Information collected automatically

• Basic technical and usage data needed to operate the app reliably (for example, app preferences and reminder settings).

How we use your information

• To provide the app’s core features — saving and displaying your entries, reminders, recaps, and keepsakes.
• To send you the optional daily reminder you turn on, and other service messages you request.
• To generate optional AI reflection prompts (see “AI features” below).
• To keep the service secure and to fix problems.

How your information is stored

Your account and content are stored using Supabase, our hosting and database provider, on secure cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Access to your content is restricted to your account.

Third-party services

We share information only with the providers needed to run the app:

• Supabase — database, authentication, file storage, and backend functions.
• OpenAI — when you use the optional “Daily Reflection” feature, the relevant text from your entries is sent to OpenAI to generate personalized prompts. This text is used only to create your prompts and is not used to advertise to you.
• Email delivery — if you enable reminders by email, we use an email-delivery provider to send them.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone, and we do not allow these providers to use your content for their own marketing.

AI features

“Daily Reflection” is optional. When you use it, portions of your journal text are processed by OpenAI to create reflection prompts. If you prefer not to share entry text with an AI provider, simply do not use that feature.

Your choices and rights

• Access & export: you can export your data as CSV files from within the app.
• Edit: you can change or delete individual entries and profile details at any time.
• Delete your account: you can permanently delete your account and all associated content from Settings → Delete account inside the app. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal content is deleted from our systems.

Children’s privacy

Complete Journal is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated within the app where appropriate.
